Discarded plastic has become part of the very fabric of the ocean and of marine life itself. The prints, in the 'Plastic Ocean Blue' series are based on images of scraps of thin, semi-transparent, plastic bags. The prints of the ocean make it hard to deciper what is artificial and what is natural. Both can fascinate.
Each print in the series has a unique combination of the basic lino print with chine collé (scraps of paper bonded to the main sheet of paper used to print onto and which provide texture). A triptych composed of prints from the Plastic Ocean Blue series was selected for the 'Let's talk about the anthropocene' exhibition at the University of Brighton in summer 2019.
